Library Services in TAFE

Library is one of the most important facilities in TAFE. It's essential for every student to know how to join the library.

The students who have been enrolled by TAFE can borrow from TAFE library automatically. The initial requirement is to show TAFEcard. It's also recognized as the library card.

Each student can borrow 6 print items which includes books and magazines and 4 audio-visual itmes which includes videos, audio cassettes and CDs. They can borrow up to 10 CDs in manga, too. In other words, in one day, you can come to the library and go out with 10 items.
Moreover, you can borrow everything for 2 weeks except for videos. They can be kept just for 1 week. If you wanto to keep a book for a longer time, you must renew this book. You can do this by phoning the library or on the internet. As for the times you can renew them, you can not do it over twice. So you can keep a book for 6 weeks at most.

If students want to reserve books, they can search the library catalogue and then phone the library. The staff will put the books aside for them if available.

You must remember the working hours of the library. That is from 9am to 8pm. The time which over 8pm is called after-hours. You can not return your books during this time. Because the whole buiding is closed.

Students in TAFE can not only borrow from the library, but also make photocopies or print from one of the library computers. They must show TAFEcard as well. Each A4 per sheet will cost you 20 cents. If you are a member of Students Association, you have a discount. You just pay it for 10 cent. So if you want to use the service, you must bring your money, too.

Apart from the above mentioned, the library provides other services, such as helping students with their assignments, helping them find information. If somebody has trouble in finding books in librariy, he will also be helped.

As for ESL students, TAFE library is really a good English dictionary. They can get the resouces from it, including books, kits, exercise books and audio tapes. If you are from other TAFE libraries, you are permitted to borrow books, too.

Libraries are the good tool in studing. If every student joins the library according to this guide well, they can get whatever they want more convenient and quickly.

It's me!

G'day, everyone! My name is Vera. I come from Shanghai China.
I have been in Australia for half a year. I came here to join my husband. Although it's not short time for me, I have adpated the life in Sydney fortunately.
Actually last semester, I studied Engish language in Marion's class, too. Because next year, I will plan to study my mainstream course, child care, in TAFE. I want to continue to improve my English via this class. In my opinion, it's pretty helpful to my language learning.
In my spare time, I like reading, surfing on the Internet, watching TV and cooking. I have realized I am genuis in cooking until I came to Australia! It's not a good job to others perhaps. But I am very proud to say, I love it!I enjoy the process of purchasing, preparing and cooking food. When I hear the praise from my husband, I will be very happy.
My husband and I were classmates when we first met. We have known each other for about 13 years. It's really a very long time. I also think we have steady and strong love.
In short, I will enjoy learning English in Marion and Andrew's class. Let's make it!
